Emily Mae: 11 Months

Oh my word.  This little gem will be one in just a very short month.  Much like her seventh month Emily seems to have saved a whole slew of things for just one short month.  She is a riot and we are enamored with her more and more every day.  Here is what this sweet sunny girl has been up to this month:
  • Teeth: She cut two new teeth this month, and is well on her way to add a third.  She already had her bottom two, and one on top.  This month she cut another top one (but not the one to complete the pair, she skipped a tooth) on Christmas Day, and then cut the one to fill in the hillbilly gap just this week.  Total teeth: 5
  • Travel: Emily could probably race the boys with them running and her crawling and she wouldn't be too far behind.  She is so fast!  However, she is now standing all on her own, holding nothing!  She loves to do this, and often claps for herself with a very proud look on her face!  She also favors walking toys over all others right now.  If she can push it and walk, she's in heaven.  And she does this pretty well, and with balance that is scary.  It really won't be long before she's running around outside with her brothers.
  • Speech: Emily just added a few new words in the past couple weeks.  This includes "hello" (which usually sounds like "huh-woah"), Zach (Zah), and once she said "way" in response to her Aunt Sara saying "NO WAY!" and said, "Hi Baby!" to a toy.  The last one, Josh actually thought it was Chris talking, it was that clear.  Crazy girl.  When she's not saying real words (notice mama has still not really made the list) she babbles along like it makes perfect sense!  She loves to talk so much that she often holds any item up to her ear as if it is a phone, says hello, and smiles...again with the pride!
  • Signs: Emily figured out "Please" last week.  Unfortunately it looks more like a monkey since she scratches her arm pit instead of rubbing/patting her chest.  It is pretty cute and her scratches just go right along with her hillbilly gap-toothed smile!  So awesome!
  • Food/Drink: Emily pretty much eats what we eat, with some baby food sprinkled here and there.  I haven't pushed the sippy cup very much yet.  I just keep forgetting.  She gets three 8 ounce bottles a day, still.
  • My little hillbilly!
  • Miscellaneous: Emily's favorite game is "peek-a-boo!" She will cover her face or take my hands and cover my face with them!  She giggles everytime we play!  Emily got another double ear infection just before Christmas (right when she was trying to cut three teeth), and we found out that she weighs 23 pounds 6 ounces.  Most of this has to be in her cheeks.  It just has to be!  She is also the happiest sick baby we've ever seen.  We only found out she had an ear infection because we took the boys in to have them seen.  They were coughing, wheezing, the whole lot.  Just to be cautious, I asked if I should be concerned about Emily.  I answered "no" to the typical "Does she have a fever? Is she tugging her ear? Is she waking up at night?" questions, but we had them check her anyway since we were already there.  When the doctor saw she had a double ear infection, Emily clapped her hands and giggled.  Seriously.  The only thing that upsets her nowadays are being in my sight but not with me, or wanting to have her bottle.  She is just plain content!
So, Emily's next update will be when she is one year old.  This is insanity to me!  She continues to bring light to our family, and love to those around her.  She is a doll, and we can not imagine our family without her!
